Top tips on creating a successful home

Creating a home is one of the most significant things we do. Successful homes are those that totally support the everyday habits, schedules, and lifestyles, enabling your home environment to work with you, not against you. All too often we allow our home or parts of it to become cluttered and neglected.

· Does your home contain objects that no longer bring you happiness, sentiment, or practical benefit?
· Do you have objects, which require more time, and attention than they are worth?
· Does your home have items you don't need or use or want?
· Do you hold onto things because of a sense of obligation rather than because you love it?
· Do you have items that do not enhance your life on a regular basis?

Do these descriptions of clutter bring up feelings for you? Do you feel as if you have things in your life that are unwanted, unneeded, or unloved? Does your home environment bring you peace and calm, or are there areas that feel chaotic?

Clearing clutter from your home can change your life; it removes negative emotions and allows you to create space in your life for the things you do want. Things that make you feel happy, function better, and contribute to the quality of your life can stay; all else goes. Deciding where to put what you are keeping is organising. Home organisational solutions are plentiful, having an idea of how you want things to look and ways you want to use each space will help your selection of home organising methods and options.

People often launch into clutter clearing by buying new shelves, file cabinets, drawer systems, and other of the many organizational options on the market. Finding beautiful organizational furniture to enjoy in your home does not happen by accident and won't be accomplished by running down to the discount furniture store on a Saturday afternoon. With careful planning of future purchases you can create beautiful storage space even where none existed before!

Start by making a list of any furnishings or home decorating purchases you expect to make in the following year. Can any of those items be turned into storage space as well as their normal function? With careful planning furniture purchases can be beautiful organizational solutions.

For example, if you want to purchase a sofa, shop for options that include a magazine rack attached or a pouffe with storage inside. Many styles of beds and coffee tables come with drawers underneath as well. If you need a console table for the hall, look for a piece that may work as a blanket chest or even offers a shelf underneath.

The truth is, there is no end to clutter. The postman will keep coming, you will gain new hobbies and interests, you’ll shop and come home with bags of goodies and you’ll receive gifts from friends and family. Clutter is endless, but there is good news…Rather than think that one day your clutter will be gone forever, develop a lifelong relationship with your home that makes it a joyful place to live. This can be accomplished when everything in your home is there because you consciously decided that it should be, and that when you bring new things into your life, they have a place.
